My Sister

The story of twin sisters trying to survive and realize their dreams as the world collapses around them.

My Sister is an exploration on perceptions of disability played against the backdrop of history, specifically 1934 Berlin. The play moves between an apartment and a cabaret, between performance and illness, conformity and self-expression. In the extreme, we can see how culture influences how we see ourselves and how we see those we love.

"When a play stirs emotions in a way that
invites changes in one's perspective on life or the world,
that's true theatre magic."

"...stunning for its intelligent humor and gut-wrenching sadness."

"This is one not to be missed, as Schlapkohl's piece is, to me, theatre at its finest, the perfect blend of escapism, entertainment, and perspective-changing emotion."
- Thom White, River Cities' Reader

"Remarkable...a brave, haunting look at disability, the bonds of sisterhood..."
- Jonathan Turner, The Dispatch-Argus
